Restaurant Inventory Management 101
Good inventory is the difference between profit and guesswork. Start with these fundamentals.
Count what matters
You do not need to weigh every spice. Track the items that move money: rice, oil, chicken, vegetables, packaging. A weekly count is enough to spot drift.
Link stock to your menu
When your POS knows which ingredients are in each dish, it can warn you before you run out and tell you your true food cost per plate.
Set par levels
A par level is the minimum you keep on hand. Reorder when you drop below it. This single habit prevents both stockouts and overbuying.
